The Coastal and Marine Geomorphology Group (CMGG), Cagliari University was created by a group of researchers at the Department of Chemical and Geological Science; they were part of the foundation and development of the Osservatorio Coste E Ambiente Naturale Sottomarino – O.C.E.A.N.S. (Coastal and Submarine Environment Observatory). based at Punta Sardegna Lighthouse, Palau (OT).
The Group researches in the fields of geomorphology, sedimentology, and marine geology, carries out studies regarding the evolution and dynamics of coastal areas, cartography of the coast and seabed, and is responsible for publishing scientific information. The group also deals with assisting planning and management of the coasts, providing substantial scientific support for the management of environmental issues.
